This now classic novel, first published in 1956, was largely ignored until Kirk Douglas made his superb film adaptation Lonely Are the Brave, in 1962. Now, for the first time in almost forty years, The Brave Cowboy is once again available in a hardbound edition, and this time containing all of Abbey's final additions and corrections. Additionally, the novel is introduced with an original essay by Kirk Douglas, reflecting on the film, the book, and its author, along with a series of striking photographs from the film.

The book is limited to 500 numbered copies, each autographed by Kirk Douglas.
